Global Dialogue - Empatico

About The Program:

Half-day workshop to include global competence with a focus on empathy, virtual exchange, essentials of communication, and Empatico program. Teachers will have a thorough introduction to lessons, videoconferencing, and learn about other ways to engage in cross-cultural exchange with students across the state, across the country, or across the globe. The Empatico program is an initiative aimed at extending our Global Dialogue, which currently focuses on middle and high school students, to elementatry grades. Using technology, students research topics and practice dialogue skills while learning about global issues. Through classroom lessons and discussions, videoconferencing and blogging, students learn to respectfully engage with peers with other cultures, backgrounds, and contexts while exploring a range of responses to global topics. Teachers participating in the Empatico pilot will also participate in the Kind Foundation’s research project for this new program.
