About The Program:


Professional learning for arts educators that will focus on the shifts of the newly revised CA Arts Standards in relationship to the teaching context of their arts classroom.  The professional learning will engage the teachers in understanding how the new standards support the development of students’ content literacy and academic language.

New California Arts Standards in the Visual and Performing Arts Classroom

DAL Level 1 Block 1

The California Arts Project’s Artistic Literacy program, Level One, Drawing, Color Theory & Beginning Art Criticism is the first of three levels designed to build artistic knowledge and skills in visual arts.  Participants will develop their artistic literacy and gain understanding of concepts in the visual arts through studio exercises focusing on drawing, the use of color and art criticism. Each participant will develop and implement a unit that is visual arts standards-based, aligned with CA Literacy and English Language Development standards.
