About The Program:


Empowering Artful Leadership: A Statewide Initiative of The California Arts Project is a year long set of programs focused on developing teacher leadership for arts education across the TCAP network. The initiative began in April 2017 and is continuing into the 2017 - 2018 year. TCAP Teacher Leaders collaborate and learn together in face-2-face and online formats, both statewide and regional. TCAP Teacher Leaders hone their leadership skills, engage in research on current educational topics, and network as leaders of arts education.

TCAP Empowering Artful Leadership: Deeper Exploration of the National Core Arts Standards

Empowering Artful Leadership is a TCAP 2017 -2018 Statewide Initiative leadership program. Deeper Exploration of the National Core Arts Standards  is one of the  programs of this important initiative. It is a blended professional learning program. TCAP Teacher Leaders collaborate and learn together in face-2-face and online formats, both statewide and regional. Deeper is engaged TCAP Teacher Leaders in staying current and providing feedback on the upcoming California visual and performing arts standards revision process. Teachers in the program are delevling into the NCAS the conceptual framework, overarching ideas, understandings and essestial questions to understand the foundational shifts represented in the new standards themselves. Teachers will also explore the Model Cornerstone Assessments.  Deeper are developing and gaining peer feedback on units of instruction utilzing the NCAS, which will then be implemented within their classrooms. Findings and student work resluting from the units will be shared and examined.  This program is being offered collaborativly by RIMS California Arts Project and Southern Counties California Arts Project for Teacher Leaders from LAB CAP, RIMS CAP, and SouthCAP.
