Bio: A former high school chemistry and physics teacher, Maria Alicia Lopez Freeman has served as the executive director of the California Science Project since 1997. She had previously served as the assistant Executive Director of the CSP and the director for Teacher Leadership in Language and Status Issues. Previous to her work with the CSP, Lopez-Freeman taught in both private and public schools for many years, the last 13 in Montebello, CA. She holds a BA in chemistry, a Masters degree in Educational Leadership, and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Chemistry and Physics. She serves on several science committees and commissions at the state and national level.
