This bibliography brings together annotated references to a selection of recent research studies related to assessment in arts education. It includes research studies that measure the impact of arts education on student achievement, both in the arts as well as in other disciplines. The scope of this bibliography is limited to research published in recognized scholarly sources and is focused primarily on research studies dealing with K-12 arts education. Major journals in each arts discipline reporting research in arts education, as well as major education journals have been searched. Most of the references are from 1980 to the present, though a few significant earlier studies have been included. A brief annotation is included for almost all of the references; most of these annotations are derived from the printed sources of the reference. This is a highly selective bibliography.
