2005-06 Collaborative Design Institute
The California Arts Project will be offering a regional Collaborative
Design Institute to outstanding, experienced educators, pre-kindergarten
through post- secondary.
The purpose of the Institute is to bring together cadres of outstanding
arts educators to develop and field-test standards-based instructional
units. Over the course of the year, participants will examine evidence
of student achievement and make refinements to the collaborative units
they have developed. The conceptual framework of the CDI is based on
the California Visual & Performing Arts Content Standards, The Visual
and Performing Arts Framework, Wiggins and McTighe’s “Understanding
by Design,” and Stigler and Hiebert’s, “The Teaching Gap.” Participants
will also become informed about current arts education issues, requirements,
and research.
TCAP is offering three CDIs in the 2005 - 2006 year at the following
