Collaborative Design Institute

Download Flyer and Application: The California Arts Project Collaborative Design Institute

The California Arts Project will be offering two Collaborative Design Institutes (CDI) for arts educators in northern or southern California. The 2002-2003 Institutes will be hosted by RIMS CAP in the San Bernardino area, and in the north this event is hosted jointly by East Bay CAP and VSCAP.

The purpose of the Institute is to bring together cadres of outstanding arts educators to develop and field-test standards-based instructional units. Over the course of the year, participants will examine evidence of student achievement and make refinements to the collaborative units they have developed. The conceptual framework for the institute is based on the California Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards, The Visual and Performing Arts Framework, Wiggins and McTighe’s Understanding by Design, and Stigler and Hiebert’s The Teaching Gap. Participants will also become informed about current arts education issues, requirements, and research.
