CANDIDATE SUBSIDY PROGRAM
The Candidate Subsidy Program (CSP), a federally funded program, subsidizes $1,000 of the National Board Certification application fee for selected candidates. The number of candidates is determined by the dollar amount allotted to California from NBPTS. For 2000-2001, California has been allotted $197,000, enough for 197 teachers. Selections will be by region on a random basis; 20% will be reserved for teachers in hard-to-staff schools.
