ARTS EDUCATION ONLINE (AEOL)

Hot Spots
Find a collection of web pages indentified as favorite resources, new and interesting locations, lists of professional organizations in the arts, or in some other way especially worth mentioning. It will be updated from time to time.

References & Resources
Link to arts sites by discipline or educational initiatives, or to promising programs, professional development providers, grants and proposals, museums and performing arts agencies, and other resource sites.

Advocacy & Reform
Here are a number of agencies, institutions, and organizations which assist California educators in promoting educational excellence. Although most of them are not directly arts-related agencies, they nonetheless provide essential services in the cause of arts education.

Online Discussion
See what others are talking about in Arts Education, or propose a topic of your own. Ask for help with a teaching question. This button takes you directly to the TCAP Discussion Group, where you can read the queries and comments of others, and you may add your own.

AEOL is partially supported by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as a pilot project of ARTSEDGE, the national arts and education information network.

Within this site, visitors will find a wealth of ideas, information, and examples relating to the arts and to arts education, as well as opportunities to ask questions and to engage in discussions on a wide variety of arts topics.

The California Arts Project is one of nine California Subject Matter Projects (CSMPs), consisting of Foreign Languages, Health-Physical Education, History-Social Science, International Studies, Literature, Mathematics, Science, Visual and Performing Arts, and Writing. Typically, Project sites are located on UC or CSU campuses.

The California Arts Project is administered by the University of California with the concurrence of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Chancellor of The California State University. Established as part of SB 1882, TCAP has developed a collegial, statewide network of teachers who are engaged in the improvement of arts instruction. TCAP has developed its Internet activities into an organized set of materials presented here as Arts Education Online, to assist in professional development in the visual and performing arts for elementary, middle, secondary, and postsecondary educators located in rural, urban, and suburban areas throughout California.
