Central California Writing Project
The Region 5B Monterey Bay Area Subject Matter Project Team (MAST) promotes teacher practice that: Educates students from all backgrounds Supports working collaboratively and independently Meets NCLB and state requirements Reflects on instruction using formative and summative data Enhances their personal content knowledge Aligns with the California content standards. MAST will mirror the fundamental premise behind each CSMP site: teachers teaching teachers can be productive and cost-effective to improve teacher practice. MAST will share standards-based best practices, provide technical assistance, and work collaboratively with schools/districts to design professional development leading to increased student achievement.
MAST capitalizes on each CSMP site’s depth of disciplinary knowledge and encourages a culture of collegial discovery and application. Their position within university communities makes it possible to provide cutting-edge, research-based professional development to all teachers in the region.
