Santa Clara Valley Mathematics Project
The SCVMP sponsors a leadership institute each May/June for 10 days for coaches and teacher leaders in partner districts. The institute focuses on a different area of mathematics each year, and also includes pedagogical and leadership activities. The first 5 days are on Tuesdays May/June during school so that a district has to pay for subs. The second 5 days are a contiguous week in June. Participants receive a small stipend for participation and usually a resource book or other materials. In summer 2009 we studied non-Euclidean geometry, specifically taxi cab geometry.
