The California Arts Project is a part of the statewide professional development network comprised of the nine disciplines required for university admission (UC and CSU) and graduation from high school. Together these networks form the University of California Subject Matter Projects (CSMP).
The California Arts Project’s central mission is to improve teaching and learning in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. The statewide California Arts Project's Leadership and Development Center is located on the campus of California State University, San Bernardino and collaborativy with the regional network of TCAP sites to fullfill TCAP's mission.
Through its statewide and regional leadership and professional development centers, The California Arts Project, TCAP, serves as a learning community of educators, Pre K- through University, and academic and career technical education. TCAP's wide variety of professional development programs focus on teacher as teacher, teacher as learner, teacher as leader, and teacher as artist.
As the state subject matter project for the visual and performing arts, TCAP’s statewide network of teacher leaders strives to ensure access for all California students to a sequential, comprehensive, and excellent standards-based visual and performing arts education, as arts education is critical for every student’s preparation for success in the 21st Century.
