The South Coast Science Project, a site of the California Science Project, has been providing professional development for teachers since 1990.  Located at UC Santa Barbara, and serving teachers in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, we provide a variety of programs to assist teachers in the delivery of the content of the Science Standards to their students.
Our key program is the annual Summer Standards Institute.  A two week, 70-hour program, the Institute addresses the upper elementary standards in one of the three areas of Earth, Life or Physical Science standards each summer.  We address content knowledge, pedagogical approaches, and explore hands-on investigations that are easily carried out in the classroom.
We also provide tailored professional development for schools and districts upon request.  These can be delivered on a schedule and for grade levels as requested.
