The focus of the SDMP is to provide a comprehensive professional development program for teams of teachers from predominantly low performing schools to help them iimplement the California Mathematics Content Standards.

The San Diego Mathematics Project (SDMP) is one of the sites of the California Mathematics Project, a California Subject Matter Project. It is part of the Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education (CRMSE) at San Diego State University (SDSU) and serves mathematics teachers in San Diego County. A major focus of the SDMP is to provide a comprehensive professional development program for teams of teachers from predominantly low performing schools to help them implement the California Mathematics Content Standards.

The work of the SDMP focuses on the following goals:

  1. assisting mathematics teachers in low performing schools in implementing the mathematics content standards and using state-adopted instructional materials,
  2. improving and expanding the mathematics content knowledge of preservice and inservice teachers,
  3. improving the mathematics classroom instruction of teachers of English Learners, and
  4. increasing the number of mathematics and science credential recommendations at SDSU.
