The North Bay Math Project has set the following goals, to:
•    Provide opportunities for teachers to increase their knowledge and understanding of mathematics
•    Design programs that meet the unique mathematics needs of schools, teachers, administrators, students, and parents.
•    Provide English Language Development (ELD) assistance and materials that support mathematics and literacy.
•    Assist teachers in developing effective strategies to help students understand the mathematics in the Content Standards
•    Identify, develop, and sustain mathematics teacher leaders in education communities.
•    Develop regional opportunities for mathematics professional development.
•    Support schools and districts as they examine student data, develop assessment tools for mathematical knowledge, content, instructional strategies, and learning.

The North Bay Math Project serves students, parents, teachers and administrators in the five north coast counties of Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte. NBMP serves 92 public school districts, 382 schools and approximately 120,000 K-12 students.

The North Bay Mathematics Project (NBMP) includes the Sonoma State University mathematics faculty, and through its partner project, The Redwood Area Math Project (RAMP) the mathematics faculty at Humboldt State University, as well as primary and secondary school administrators, and teachers from every grade level. Established in 2001 with the primary mission of deepening teachers’ understanding of fundamental mathematics and strengthening their ability to think mathematically and communicate mathematical concepts, the North Bay Math Project is an integral part of mathematics education in Northern California. In addition to providing training, we seek out effective teachers and encourage them to become teacher-leaders, so that the lessons that begin with NBMP spread quickly and widely through the schools.
