CRLP works to improve student achievement of students in grades Pre-K - 12 by providing high quality professional development institutes and productive leadership training that both deepens the content knowledge of teachers and develops teacher leadership, in accordance with both the adopted State Board of Education Standards and the California Reading and Language Arts Framework.
An additional goal of the CRLP is to create a bridge between the academic world of the university and the world of classroom and students. This relationship allows teachers to develop and improve their teaching practices, and improve their student’s achievement, by concretely linking the theory and research of the academic world to their classrooms.
With our mission in mind, and in order to meet the Reading needs of California's diverse student population, an important focus to all the CRLP work has been California's English Language Learner population. Included in CRLP’s in-service models are institutes directed to the needs of students and teachers of both Structured English Immersion Program, and waivered Bilingual Programs.
CRLP Cal Lutheran services all of Ventura, Santa Barbara, Kern and San Luis Obispo counties. Since the office opened in 2000, CRLP Cal Lutheran has conducted hundreds of events and has provided professional development to thousands of teachers.
