The California Science Project was established in 1988, one year before the creation of the California Subject Matter Projects (CSMP). From the original 8 sites, the CSP network has expanded to the current 18 sites providing service to teachers across the state from Humboldt to the San Diego Imperial Valley region. CSP sites are housed at 9 of the 10 UC campuses, 8 CSU campuses, and 1 at University of the Pacific in the Central Valley. Every site is lead by a leadership team that includes a site director (frequently a former teacher or scientist), teachers, scientists, and science education faculty.
