The content of the program is as follows: a) stage and age appropriate outcomes tailored to the needs of heritage and nonnative learners; b) objectives for knowledge (cultural/content), for communication and for control of form; c) interpretive tasks using authentic materials to make content comprehensible to students; d) interpersonal activities that simulate real-world tasks; and, e) presentational tasks that demonstrate culturally-appropriate language use; f) suggestions for incorporating technology in the instructional program; g) strategies for working with English language learners and diverse, low-performing student populations; h) reflection on practice, colleague collaboration, and leadership development.
