Program: CRLP Focused Approach/HMR Training - Anaheim- GROUP 12 (2004-05)

GOALS: 1. Realize the distinction between simply teaching IN English and effectively TEACHING English. 2. Become more familiar with the general principles of second language learning and the related, but distinct purposes of English languae instruction. 3. Increase participants' knowledge of the competencies and instructional needs of students in each of the five levels of English proficiency. 4. Learn about the ELD components of the Houghton Mifflin Reading program to help organize and maximize ELD instruction for English Learners. 5. Learn an approach for planning additional instructional by analyzing the concept and skill requirements of Houghton Mifflin reading/language arts lessons. 6. Gain strategies for providing structured opportunities for both oral and written student language practice and application.
