CPE-HP Summer Institutes and Follow Ups
Designed for teachers of Health Education and Physical Education and aligned with the California K-12 Physical Education Content Standards and the Health Education Content Standards.
Physical Education Content Standards Implementation Series
Designed for teachers of Physical Education, this is a five-level series of workshops as well as support and practice sessions focusing on the implementation of standards-based instruction.
When and Where
Three sites offer 40 to 60 hour summer institutes, with three follow-up dates during the school year. The standards implementation series is offered in five day-long sessions, and five four-hour support and practice sessions, at school sites, districts, county offices of education, and conferences throughout California.
What to Expect
Though the format and specific content can vary, CPE-HP programs give teachers a deeper understanding of health and/or physical education content. The programs cover developmentally appropriate practice in physical education, class management strategies, and current academic content in exercise science, biomechanics, motor learning, and the psychology and sociology of physical activity.
What CPE-HP Programming Offers Your Students
Students will receive instruction which builds on their previous skills sequentially in the standards-based instructional model you have learned. English Learners and high-need students will be more successful as you employ differentiated strategies learned at the CPE-HP programs.
Funding
Though many of these programs were built and are currently funded by federal or state grants, these programs are also often open to any local teacher through contracts with local districts, schools, or individual registration fees.
