Activities (1)
Modeling Reading Behavior: Considering Books as a Central Home Theme
Reading is the best activity to becoming a more informed, creative, interesting human being. Reading is a process that, when done regularly, helps us gain writing skills; also, as we notice patterns, words, and structures, we can incorporate them into our own ideas and writing. Often times, when we wonder why our children have no interest in reading, it is because we are not the best models. We used to read a lot, but life got busy, and we just can't find time to pick up a book. If parents want their kids to read more, parents need to read more themselves. They can also work with the space they have at home to provide a more focused environment that promotes reading. This workshop discusses ways parents can make time in their busy schedules to get back into reading and also provides simple ideas on how to centralize reading in the home.
