The San Jose Area Writing Project provides PLCs that offer pre-service and in-service teachers the opportunity to participate in professional conversation and collaboration, while earning reasonably priced graduate level credit. This year we will be offering two professional learning community sessions (PLC): one in the fall and one in the spring. There will be a K-6 and a 7-12 cohort in each session. SJAWP Teacher Consultants will facilitate each PLC. Each PLC cohort will analyze student work, gather baseline data, and plan for targeted instruction. The cycle of inquiry will be chosen by consensus of the PLC cohort. All PLC participants will attend all three Saturday Seminars in fall and/or spring. In addition, PLC members will attend two cohort meetings, one on the first day of the fall or spring program and one follow up meeting (see schedules below). Participants may earn a total of 4 units of graduate credit by attending fall and spring PLC sessions.
