Modeling and Designing Resources for CCSS Writing for ELLs: Making Content More Accessible for Our EL Students (4-7)

Activities (1)
Making Content More Accessible for Our EL Students
We all know that the CCSS call for an increase in academic rigor and critical thinking. Less clear is how to help our students meet these new expectations. In particular, assisting our EL students as they make the transition to the CCSS and the corresponding, newly-published ELD standards means that, now more than ever, we must focus on making content comprehensible. Learn strategies for building background with your EL students. Review methods for increasing students' understanding of academic English, and add to your teacher toolbox with interaction strategies to engage all students in academic discussion in your classroom.
