"Online Foundations" is a unique professional development course for world language and ELD teachers. It is comprised of seven 2-3 week Modules which combine asynchronous, online independent study with synchronous Blackboard Live Sessions and Office Hours opportunities when participants meet online with the program facilitators and other participants. Instruction and activities will improve participants' understanding and delivery of Communicative Based Instruction using the Effective Instructional Sequence (EIS) as aligned to the CA World Language Content Standards and Framework. Each participant will produce a detailed lesson/unit plan aligned to the CA World Language Content Standards. This program runs from September 8, 2013 to April 5, 2014 [Please Note: In the listing of Module dates below, the first two dates are the Live Session and Office Hours when participants and Facilitators will have the opportunity to meet online. The third date represents completing the activities in each Module, but is not an online meeting.] Participants will need access to a computer with high-speed internet access. A headset microphone is required for participation in Live Sessions (built-in microphones are not acceptable due to feedback issues). Program cost: $70.00 payment to be submitted to CapWLP. CSU Sacramento Continuing Education units will be available for purchase separately. All program activities and assignments must be completed to earn units. Registration deadline: Friday, August 30, 2013.
