CaMSP Middle School Institute
The SGVSP is in partnership with the Haciendia La Puente Unified School District to provide 80-hour summer institues with six follow-ups during the subsequent academic year. Sessions will support the teaching of Earth, Life and Physical science standards to the diverse students in Hacienda La Puente middle schools.
HHMI High School Institutes
The 40-hour summer Howard Hughes Medical Institutes support research laboratory experineces that embrace the nature of science and support urban students to pursue science careers. Each HHMI includes six high school teahcers, twelbe high school students and three pre-service teachers. The HHMI's include universtiy content faculty and science educators in team teaching situations which model exemplar teaching of critical thinking and research circumstances both on campus and at research field satations in California.
Science Teachers Learning from Lesson Analysis (STeLLA)
This program is a partnership with four local school districts and LessonLab, Inc., with support from a four-year National Science Foundation, Research on Learning in Education grant. Cohorts of upper elementary teachers participate in a summer intensibe institute (80 hours) and monthly follow-up work (72 hours) in support of their science content understanding, studnet learning and classroom teaching.
