The University of California
The University of California is one of the largest and most acclaimed institutions of higher education in the world, dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and public service. It currently has nine campuses throughout the state.

The California State University
The California State University system links twenty-two individual campuses throughout the state. The oldest campus, San Jose State was founded in 1857; the newest campus, The California Maritime Academy, founded in 1929, joined the CSU in July 1995. Academic excellence has been achieved by The California State University through a distinguished faculty which offers superior teaching.
