MBAMP Programs
In June 1999, MBAMP began offering services to the teachers in the Monterey Bay area which proved to be very successfull. The programs continued through this school year.
MBAMP's activities include:
• a UCSC Extension course through which participants can earn quarter units for participation in all MBAMP workshops
• partnerships with low-performing schools in the Monterey Bay Area, finalized with the help of the UCSC Partnership Center
• a 15-day Summer Institute in mathematics content, pedagogy, and teacher leadership
• pre- and post- tests for Summer Institute 2000 participants
• five follow-up workshops in mathematics content and teacher leadership
• five workshops in mathematics content for teachers who could not attend the 15-day Summer Institute
• a one-day workshop-conference on mathematical content and pedagogy
• mathematics seminars at school sites, presented to classroom teachers by the MBAMP faculty advisors
• content mentoring, including classroom visits, lesson demonstrations, email, and phone conferencing
• participation on the Santa Cruz City Schools Mathematics Task Force
