No Child Left Inside with Place-Based Learning
Place-Based Learning is simply using our place, where we live, as the context for learning. PBL uses a multidisciplinary approach that provides students the opportunity to learn through a process of exploration, action, and reflection. Student learning in the content areas is enhanced through hands-on activities that enable students to explore their local environment, deepen their understanding and improve the immediate world around them. Join us for an interactive session on Place-Based Learning, with examples of successful programs, and steps to get you started! Now more than ever is the time to leave no child indoors.

Feather River Watercourse: Watershed education that journeys from the schoolyard to the ocean
Find out about the Watercourse - a highly successful place-based education program that guides students on a journey beginning at the headwaters of their local watershed. Students assemble their home-place step by step as they go from the Plumas to the Pacific, Sierra to the Sea, Edge to the Estuary. No matter the lay of your own local landscapes, you have a watercourse worth following and exploring. Together we will examine local resources to map out your potential place-based journey and the ways to make instructional standards come alive.
