Out of deeply held convictions, CISP gives special attention to the needs of California's most educationally challenged students. This priority has resulted in several programs that operate statewide and that appear in different forms in the plans of the project's regional sites. Included are approaches for linking standards-based instruction to performance and assessment, teaching in heterogeneous classrooms, creating inclusive educational environments, engaging average-achieving high school students, and strengthening content literacy and English Language Development programs.
