Demonstrating Knowledge

High school teachers and students work with visiting Egyptian teachers.
It is not enough to know or understand something abstractly. For both student and teacher participants, CISP is committed to demonstrating that knowledge and understanding have consequences in action. Students are expected to develop and present products of their work that show clear evidence of the appreciation of their knowledge and understanding. Teachers demonstrate that knowledge and skill acquired in staff development programs are converted to strengthened instructional practice in their own classrooms. Wherever possible, site leaders provide individual support and facilitation that enables participants to incorporate new content and strategies into sophisticated practice. Staff development experiences are connected to exemplary practice through classroom observation and feedback -- coaching, mentoring, colleague collaboration, etc.
