We Are California: CHSSP Partners with the California Council for the Humanities
A new interactive online exhibit from the California Council for the Humanities (CCH) – We Are California: Stories of Immigration and Change – will explore the history and stories of those who have immigrated or migrated to California. A new partnership between the Council and the California History-Social Science Project (CHSSP) will help to bring this exciting resource to the classroom. Through the CCH-CHSSP partnership, four professional development workshops for California K-12 history teachers will be held this summer.

Three of the four workshops are open to the public and are scheduled across the state this summer. (The fourth will be held for participants at this summer’s UCLA Places and Time institute). The open workshops are scheduled for UC Irvine on July 9, Stanford University on July 28, and UC Davis on July 30.

To register for one of these workshops or for more information, contact the CHSSP offices at chssp@ucdavis.edu or check out the flier below for online registration information.

CHSSP Announces History Summit Initiative
Given its mandate as a publicly-funded professional development organization to increase student achievement in history and the related social sciences, the California History-Social Science Project (CHSSP) is convening a select group of K12 educators and administrators, university scholars, and state and national leaders to advocate for increased and improved history instruction for all of California’s children.

Summit participants, who will meet three times over the next 18 months, will engage in a rigorous discussion of the benefits of high-quality history instruction, methods to increase and improve instruction throughout the state, and seek to merge the latest research in history education with classroom practice.

For additional details, visit the History Summit website by clicking below or contact the CHSSP offices at chssp@ucdavis.edu.
